Meet ”Good News” Bob
Hi, my name is Bob Ochterbeck, real estate broker and an agent since 2003, currently with Abby Realty. I’m a true native Houstonian and have lived in the area my entire life. Have I seen Houston change throughout my life? You’d better believe it! Growing up, I had two uncles who lived and worked on a rice farm in Ganado, Texas, so my family would drive there to visit occasionally. Ganado was, at that time, about 90 miles southeast of Houston off Hwy 59 toward Corpus Christi.
Well, I remember we would drive out of the city of Houston and keep driving what seemed like for-ever in the country until we finally made it to Sugar Land! Yes, the same Sugar Land that’s now barely out of downtown Houston. Then we’d continue driving to Ganado. Like Sugar Land, it’s been the same for many of the small towns Houston has gobbled up over the years.
I’ve been married to “Pretty Jane” for 35 years (ask me how she got that name). She’s an incredible wife and mother and she’s always been such a blessing to me. We have seven grown children—Jonathan, Julie, Jeremy, Melody, Emily, Rachel & Rebekah—and two in-laws, Marcus (married to Emily) and Mayra (married to Jeremy). They all love the Lord and have made us proud parents. We live in the Magnolia area.

SO…WHO EXACTLY IS GOOD NEWS BOB?
I, Bob Ochterbeck, have a secret identity like all the superheroes—Clark Kent is Superman, Bruce Wayne is Batman, Selina Kyle is Catwoman, Bob Parr is Mr. Incredible, etc. So it’s time now to introduce you to my real identity…I know it’s going to be hard to believe…my real identity is…Good News Bob. Yes, it’s true! I came from the planet Zircon with incredible superpowers to protect the innocent home buyer and seller from unscrupulous real estate agents and devious new homebuilder salespeople by overcoming their evil intentions with my honesty, integrity, and negotiation skills.
Why did I adopt this name?
I’ll tell you, I got fed up with all the bad news everywhere—the news programs, social media, sports coverage—even the neighborhood blog posts! So I thought to myself, “I don’t want to be caught up in all the negativity. I want to encourage people with good news. I want them to be encouraged and uplifted, breathe a little, enjoy life, laugh at a joke or two, have a little fun! Good News Bob, that’s who I want to be – your superhero real estate agent extraordinaire. And I want to share the good news of my beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. That’s the best news anyone can receive!
So my desire is to bring that joy to your life, that humor, that appreciation for what you can be thankful for, oh, and, of course, help you buy or sell your home. That’s the really fun part. For me. And it can be for you, too. Well, hopefully. That’s my job, actually, to keep the process stress-free. I love it! And you have my assurance you’ll love it, too.
